Schooled: Students Speak Up webinar features student voices from around the globe. Learn the impact Coronavirus has on students’ home and school life  directly from students.

The second semester of this year has unfolded for students all over the world in a manner far beyond our imagination just six months ago. Students, parents and schools are rapidly trying to adjust to online learning, working and schooling in a time of uncertainty and social distancing. We have heard the challenges of parents and schools, but what do students think? Cognia, a leading expert in accreditation, assessment and continuous improvement, is hosting a live student webinar on April 28, at 4:00 p.m. EDT to find out.

Across the globe more than 1.5 billion students or more than 90 percent of the world’s learners are at home due to school closures in 190 countries.[i] To provide support during this unprecedented time, Cognia has curated COVID-19 resources  webinars and professional development opportunities for educators, and has convened a group of high school students for a global webinar called Schooled: Students Speak Up.

“The upheaval and anxiety caused by the pandemic has impacted students’ lives more than we can imagine,” said Dr. Mark A. Elgart, president and CEO of Cognia.  “At Cognia, we are learner centric; all of our resources and support be they for students, schools or states focus on student impact.”

With approximately nine out of ten students worldwide out of school because of the Coronavirus, it is more important than ever to focus on the learners. This webinar gives us, the adults, an opportunity to hear firsthand from high school students about how their lives have changed—how they feel about learning from home, missing school events, and being separated from their friends.

Join this webinar and hear the voices of eight students from around the world who are unknown to each other but who may share similar experiences and emotions. This is an opportunity to learn what it is like to be a high school student during this time when their school experience—perhaps their senior year—has been forever changed. “If we listen closely, these students’ words may lead us toward meaningful change in how we think about education—in both ordinary and extraordinary circumstances,” said Elgart.
