Coaching junior high athletics has shown me that meaningful learning doesn’t just happen in traditional classrooms. The playing field, track, or gym becomes an unconventional classroom where face-to-face interaction, immediate feedback, and structured practice time are essential. Just like in education, athletes (our students) grow through hands-on experience, real-time guidance, and a clear routine. These same principles apply across learning environments—in-person, virtual, or asynchronous. Effective teaching and coaching both rely on connection, consistency, and intentional design to help learners improve, perform, and reach their full potential.
